Gold Rises As US Stocks Suffer Mild Losses

Gold futures closed higher in the domestic market on Monday but a firmer U.S. dollar kept the price move in check as global markets digested Sunday’s French election.

Although the dollar gained, U.S. stocks traded mostly lower, in line with mild losses for their European counterparts. That helped to temporarily steady battered gold’s recent selloff.

At the MCX, gold futures for June 2017 contract ended at Rs 28080 per 10 grams, up by 0.03 per cent, after opening at Rs 28,118 against a previous close of Rs 28,072. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 28,071.
