Oil Markets Volatile As Trade War Between U.S. And China Escalates

Oil prices seesawed on Friday in a nervous market as the United States and China applied a raft of tariffs to each others' goods in an escalating trade war between the world's two biggest economies.

Oil prices fell early on Friday, along with stock markets. Yet by 0623 GMT, U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were up 24 cents, or 0.3 percent, from their last settlement at $73.18 per barrel.

Brent crude futures were down 1 cent at $77.38.
